Food Review: Sambokojin! Eat All You Can, Grill All You Can!

I only ate twice in SAMBOKOJIN restaurant – both in Edsa Branch and at lunch time. This is some sort of “Despidida” for my office mate who will be leaving the country to work in Australia (Cheers)* and marry his Fiancee (Another cheers to that!).

The PROs: I am very particular to customer service. Fortunately, the Sambokojin  staffs and crews are very accommodating and very attentive to our needs and other customers as well. It is worth noting that they replace your used plates fast. I also notice that they quickly replenish the food and the arrangement of the restaurant is organized well. The food area don’t get crowded and the lines didn’t ques too long. Those things are what you need in an eat all you can restaurant because you don’t want to leave the table just to ask for some petty stuffs like utensils or wait too long in the line.  The variety of food is wide. The sushis and sashimis are yummy and the menu is complete from appetizers to desserts! The foods are fresh and served in a right size (not too big or too small). They also have a very clean comfort rooms. So you need not to worry if your stomach gets upset afterwards (I just didn’t notice if there are some tissues).

The CONs. Some of the fish are not “boneless’ instead, it is “BONEFUL”. Sorry, I can’t find the right word. I would like to feast on the fish but most of it have a lots of tinik. I also find it hard to scoop on their ice creams. I hope they can change the scooper or at least refill faster the ice creams gallons. The cakes are also not that delicious but you can add the flavor by adding some chocolate syrups. Tempuras and other cooked food are not that warm.  Lastly, they ran out of beer which is some kind of mortal sin for any restaurant- to run out of stock -most especially beer.

Overall, Sambokojin is a must try restaurant. the price is fair and the ambiance is good. I would probably rate This as 8.50/10.

Few suggestions if you are also a newbie eater like me.

1. Ask the waiter for the rice! The second time we ate, they didn’t served the “special rice”.

2. Be familiar with the different kinds of sauce and how to control the fire. This will help you save your time in cooking and also maximizing the use of the sauce. Again, ask the waiter.

3. Use the tongs for grilling! It is much easier to use than chopsticks. Also, don’t be shy to ask for spoon and fork.  Again, ask the waiter for extra.

4. Don’t Panic! hehe

FYI: I also researched what is the meaning of  SAMBO  KOJIN  and I arrived to something like “God of the Kitchen” but their site suggests that it means like more of ritual of grillings. Try visiting their websites and find out more!
